[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: Sally Blevins/Skids
FANDOM: X-TERMINATORS/er, Marvel 616
CHRONOLOGY: The end of X-Force (first series)#79
CLASS: Hero
SUPERHERO NAME: Skids
ALTER EGO: Sally Blevins, waitress

BACKGROUND:

Sally grew up in an abusive household. Her stepfather, Bill, was a drunk who routinely hit her mother. When Sally was twelve she was going to be attending a party. Her mother gave her a pearl necklace to wear at it. Bill didn't approve of this and beat her mother until she was nearly dead. Sally tried to step in and stop the man but he turned on her as well. Luckily for Sally her power manifested at that moment and he was unable to harm her. Bill ran away in fear and Sally tried to help her mother. Unfortunately her powers kept her from being able to grab hold of the woman and she watched her die. Sally gathered the broken pearl necklace and ran away.

She eventually found herself under the streets of New York city with the Morlocks. Sally stayed with them for a few years, going to the surface now and then to gather supplies and walk through Central Park. On one outing, she met Rusty Collins. The young man was being chased by Freedom Force and Sally helped him escape by bringing him to the tunnels. The Marauders were attacking the Morlocks which caused Rusty to bring Sally to X-Factor's headquarters.

After the massacre, Sally found out who the people behind X-Factor were and was taken in as one of their charges. She made friends with the other teen mutants that had been taken in and slowly learned how to control her powers with Rusty's help. She also fell in love with the boy. The teens lived with X-Factor for a number of months until they were shipped off to boarding school. Rusty turned himself into the military and said goodbye to all of his friends. None of the teens liked boarding school and didn't even make it one day as Leech and Artie were kidnapped by demons.

Sally and her friends fought to save them, breaking Rusty out of prison, and eventually joined up with the New Mutants to stop the demons from sacrificing babies. There were a few adventures with the New Mutants before Sally and Rusty were separated from the team and arrested by Freedom Force. After some events they were broken out by the Mutant Liberation Front and brainwashed into joining them. While being brainwashed they met up with their old friends and had to fight them.

During this battle Exodus and Magneto came to offer the teens a chance to join him on Avalon. Magneto unbrainwashed Rusty and Sally and they went with him to Avalon. Eventually the two realized they didn't want to be there but before they could leave Rusty was murdered by Holocaust. Sally was devastated by his loss and after helping get herself and Jean Grey to X-Mansion ran away again.

She spent some time on her own before enrolling in Boulder College. She was a freshman and majoring in biology when Tabby and friends came to crash at her place. Sally had been hiding the fact she was a mutant at this time. She was swept up into their drama and because of her power interacting with Locus's teleporting power she's now been pulled from her world.

Sally new the original X-Men and was their ward for a time in her youth. She's also known most of the New Mutants cast and regarded them as her friends. Though she won't be too happy with any of them since their staying at her place has ousted her as a mutant.

PERSONALITY:

Rusty Collins once told Sally that her power wasn't the only shield she kept around herself. She keeps one around her emotions as well, not letting others get close to her until she knows she can truly trust them. She began to soften with that while under the care of X-Factor, making friends, joking around and being a "normal" teenage girl. The shield she kept to protect her emotions would rise up whenever threatened and then she slinks back. She'll become guarded and watchful. Those are characteristics that made her a good Morlock and allowed her to hide underground for as long as she did.

Once she has developed friendships she's loyal to them but Sally is utmost a survivor. After losing Rusty she's become even more guarded and very cynical of the world around her. She regrets her past life, feels as though being a superhero for those few years wasn't necessarily a good thing and is trying desperately to be as normal as she can be. She feels resentful of those who come into her life and are still doing the superhero business. Mostly she is suffering from depression because of Rusty's death, as well as post-traumatic stress disorder because of how he died and all she's experienced. This can make her jumpy and distrustful. It also gives her horrible nightmares which causes a lack of sleep that exacerbates the issues.

That said, she has a wicked sense of humor and happily played pranks on Bobby Drake and helped Tabitha Smith with some of her weirder schemes when they were with X-Factor. She's decent enough with kids and will listen and follow directions when needed. She's more of a follower than a leader and if given the time to heal would come around to accepting that heroing is part of her past, present, and future.

POWER:

Sally can create a force field around herself (and others). This force field is nearly impenetrable. She can also release energy bursts from the shield. If someone tries to grab hold of her while she has her shield on they will find her too slippery to grab hold of. This slipperiness also allows her to use it to glide along the ground, up walls, across ceilings.

[CHARACTER SAMPLES]
COMMUNITY POST (FIRST PERSON) SAMPLE:

Seriously? Seriously?

I knew I should've said no when they turned up at my door. I mean how did they even manage to find me in Boulder? I was laying low. I hadn't used my powers so it's not as though anyone could have caught me in the news or anything. Though they will now because of that crap with Bobby and his evil twin or whatever he was. I should have known better. Not like I've ever known Tabby to be quiet.

It doesn't matter though. I've been pulled away from home to who in the world knows where. Is it too much to ask to be allowed to live a normal life?!?!

I wonder if any of them are even looking for me. [sigh]

Sometimes I really hate being a mutant.

LOGS POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:

None of this was supposed to happen. Sally had left behind all of the insanity that was superheroing. She had stopped using her codename, had made sure to stay away from any big cities or news, and nearly stopped using her power completely. Shouldn't that mean that crazy occurrences such as this shouldn't be happening to her? Shouldn't she have a chance of being normal.

The giant computer screen that she was staring at definitely indicated that she was somewhere far from normal. "Welcome to the city, hero," the automated voice stated and Sally crossed her arms, shield already glowing bright around her.

"Just great," she muttered. Not only was she not going to be able to return to school and continue a normal life but now she was kidnapped by a giant machine.

"Name," the machine asked and Sally sighed, answering quickly. "Codename."

She stared at the screen for a long moment. She did not want to answer that one. She did not want to need a codename. Sally wanted to go back to before everything had gone so terribly wrong. The problem was she couldn't seem to pinpoint exactly when that had been. If she went to far back she never would have met Rusty but maybe that would have been for the best. Maybe he would still be alive and happy somewhere and she never would have known his love. It would be better to not know that pain, wouldn't it?

She wasn't so sure.

"Codename," the machine repeated.

Sally looked down. "Skids."

The dog tags that appeared felt heavy in her hands and even heavier once she looped them around her neck. If experience had taught her anything this could not possibly end well.
